Domaine Houchart Côte de Provence Rose Tête de Cuvée.

Domaine Houchart Rose Tête de Cuvée is a top of the range rose from a
selection of terroirs benefiting from the effects of different vintage
conditions, and from a serious blend of different cuvees, each with its own
distinctive aromatic qualities.
Domaine Houchart is located in the Sainte Victoire area of Côtes de Provence.
Viticulture
The parcels of vines are around 20 years old, where the vine is sufficiently
robust to produce the maximum aromatic elements. Green harvest work is very
carefully carried out in order to help the vine devote all its energy into grape
production and not leaf growth. The parcels are ploughed and some Cinsault vines
are worked under controlled conditions in order to control the natural
generosity of this grape variety.
Assemblage
50% Cinsault, 30% Grenache and 20% Syrah.
Vinification
The tête de cuvée rose comes from juice from the first pressing. One of
its characteristics is the vinification in oak for around 10% of the blend.
Half way through the fermentation part of the best cuve is put into Burgundy
barriques in order to finish its fermentation slowly and to extract the tannins
in the most harmonious way. At the end of the fermentation, the lees are stirred
and left for several weeks in order to fill out the wine and to bind the aromas
of the grapes and those of the oak. Vinification takes place at temperatures between
17°C and 20°C.
Characteristics
Lovely pink colour with raspberry hints. The wine has an expressive complex
bouquet with aromatic notes of vanilla with red fruits. Fresh attack in the
mouth, fruity with mineral notes on the palate, and with a rounded development
of tannins in the middle palate, which gives this rose impressive length.
To sum up: the perfect rose to accompany with gastronomic dishes, combining
substance and elegance.
