Domaine Houchart Côte de Provence Red Réserve.

Label of Domaine Houchart Réserve.

For the first time in 1998, as a result of the exceptional quality of the vintage and according to the definitive strategy of Domaine Houchart to produce high quality red wines from Côtes de Provence, Vignobles Jérôme Quiot decided to produce, in the good vintages, a wine with exceptional concentration and finesse, called "Réserve".

The clay-chalk soils of the Northwest part of the Côtes de Provence are known for a very long time for their suitability for ageing.
The soil comes from a supply of small chalky stones to the supply of streamy from Sainte Victoire, whose plateaux carry stones residues.

This wine is a blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, he is aged for 40 % of the blend in barrel.

The exposure is to the south.
The vines are on average 30 years old and their is a maximum of 4000 vines per hectare (2,47 acres).
The Grenache vines are trained in the traditional "gobelet" way and the Syrah vines are trained on wires and pruned by the Cordon de Royat method.

The grapes are all de-stemmed, and the Syrah and Grenache are blended together for the vinification; fermetatin is done for 10 to 15 days at 27-28°C. Approximately 50% of the wine is aged in oak barrels for 6 months.

Garnet red color, with ripe fruit and toasted bread aromas. This wine exhibits a very good fruity unity and an opulence of intensity. This full-bodied wine to be enjoyed with Italian food, roast meats, casseroles and cheese. We recommend decanting 20 minutes before serving at 16-18 °C.

This wine can bear celling.
